LEGOLAND New York Route 17 Exit 125 Ramp & Bridge

When the new LEGOLAND New York Resort in Goshen, New York was proposed, Exit 125 on Route 17 required a major reconfiguration. The existing interchange was not designed to handle the additional traffic expected from a major new attraction, so plans called for a new interchange, new ramps and a bridge over Route 17 to provide more direct access to the park. 

The new interchange would also address geometric deficiencies in the existing interchange and was designed to meet current highway standards as Route 17 moves toward it’s eventual conversion to Interstate 86. 

The project included a new westbound ramp and an overpass bridge crossing Route 17. The ramp included an elevated section supported by precast T-Wall® retaining wall systems, allowing the ramp to rise above the surrounding grade while maintaining the footprint needed for the interchange. T-Walls were also incorporated into the bridge abutment on the opposite side of Route 17.

Today, Exit 125 provides direct access to LEGOLAND New York from Route 17, with the T-Wall structures supporting the ramps and bridge that make that connection possible.
